Data Migration Specialist
The Position
The Data Migration Specialist works closely with the Data Migration Team and Implementation Team to ensure seamless, accurate, and timely migration of legacy data for Theta Lake customers. This role is a critical bridge between our customers, internal stakeholders, and our engineering teams, ensuring historical data is securely and compliantly transitioned into the Theta Lake platform.
Reporting to the Manager, Global Technical Account Management and Implementation Services, the Data Migration Specialist will be responsible for project managing customer migration efforts, coordinating technical tasks, and advising clients on best practices related to legacy data exports, metadata mapping, import formats, data structuring, and retention strategies.
In this role you will:
- Act as the main point of contact for customers throughout the data migration process
- Coordinate with internal data migration engineers and customer IT teams to plan and execute secure data transfers
- Communicate timelines, technical requirements, and progress to all stakeholders
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to legacy data extraction, metadata mapping, import formatting, or compliance rules
- Ensure customer expectations are met or exceeded throughout the migration lifecycle
- Work closely with the Implementation and Support teams to ensure smooth onboarding post-migration
- Track migration milestones and metrics to drive successful outcomes
- Identify and escalate risks or blockers early, ensuring no delays in migration projects
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Customer Success to improve the migration experience

Compensation
$90,000/year to $110,000/year + equity + benefits
Individual pay is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, location and market conditions. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base salary only, and do not include equity or performance incentives, if applicable. We’re most excited if you also have some of these skills (or are ready to learn):
- Proven experience in data migration or data project management, especially in regulated industries
- Familiarity with legacy archive platforms such as Veritas, Enterprise Vault, On-Prem Exchange, Global Relay, Source One, Smarsh, or Proofpoint
- Understanding of data formats (EML, PST, XML, CSV, etc.) and data transformation concepts
- Working knowledge of cloud storage platforms (AWS S3, Azure Blob, etc.)
- Experience working with or coordinating secure file transfers (SFTP, encrypted archives, etc.)
- Familiarity with compliance requirements for data retention and e-discovery
- Ability to manage multiple customers and projects simultaneously
